Blueberry keeps your food log and health data on your devices. Blueberry AI LLC ("we", "us") doesn't run accounts or keep a database of your meals or health records anywhere outside the app stored on the user’s device. Some features need to send information off your device to function. This policy explains when that happens, who receives it, and what you can do about it.
It covers the Blueberry app for iPhone and Apple Watch, its widgets, our website at www.blueberryai.app, and support.
The short version
- Your food log, photos, health data and reports are only stored on your devices.
- AI features including but not limited to scanning food with your camera, weekly reports, daily insights, text descriptions, and more, may run locally on your device or on our provider’s cloud servers.
- Food searches and barcodes go through our server to a food database. Photos, audio recordings and health data never do.
- Usage analytics are on by default and never include your health data, meals or photos. You can turn them off in Settings.
- We don't sell your information, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
Information Blueberry keeps on your device
What you enter. Your name, age, sex, height, weight and other body measurements, dietary and activity preferences, and goals. The meals you log, including descriptions, nutrition details, food photos, barcode scans and voice transcripts.
What Blueberry creates. Nutrition estimates and targets, insights, weekly reports, and your ratings of those reports.
Apple HealthKit, with your permission. Blueberry can read your date of birth and sex, body measurements, activity and workouts, sleep, heart, breathing and blood oxygen measurements, wrist temperature, and mindful minutes, and possibly more unique health signals. Workouts may include include their recorded routes, which contain precise location. Blueberry doesn't otherwise access your location. With your permission, it also saves the weigh-ins you log to Apple HealthKit. New health data categories can be read or written to in the future, with your permission.
Blueberry uses this information to show your history, calculate your targets and scores, and personalize insights and reports. It's stored locally on your iPhone, with copies for the Apple Watch app and widgets. Your iCloud or computer backups may include it, depending on your backup settings. We can't see or retrieve it.
We never use information from Apple HealthKit for advertising or marketing, and we never sell it.
When information leaves your device
AI features. Our AI features handle requests on your device when possible, and send them to our AI provider’s servers when a task needs more computing power. We use Apple’s Private Cloud Compute for all cloud AI requests. Requests sent to Private Cloud Compute servers are used only to answer them and cannot be stored or read by Apple or Blueberry. Please leave other people and unrelated sensitive details out of photos and descriptions. Blueberry is not a business partner of Apple’s. Please see the following for more information on privacy of Apple’s Private Cloud Compute: https://security.apple.com/blog/private-cloud-compute/
Voice. On iPhone, Blueberry transcribes your speech on-device and uses only the text for logging purposes. On Apple Watch, Apple's built-in dictation turns your speech into text, and Blueberry receives only the text. The text is then processed via the same path as a typed request via the AI analysis route.
Food lookups. Our food lookup service passes your search to a food database and returns the results. The database provider receives the search from our service, not from your device, so it doesn't see your IP address. Our service uses your IP address and a device verification code to block abuse. Its technical logs can include your searches and may be stored for an undetermined amount of time. Food searches can reveal your eating habits. Blueberry does not sell or share this information.
Support. When you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments. Emails started from the app include technical details, such as app version, device model and settings for nutrition setup, subscription and reminders. You can review, edit or remove them before sending. Please don't send personally identifiable information or health records unless your request needs them and you consent to this information being stored by Blueberry for an indefinite amount of time.
Usage analytics
Blueberry collects usage analytics to learn which features people use and where things go wrong. Analytics are on by default. You can turn them off in Settings > Privacy > Usage Analytics.
What analytics include: including but not limited to screen flows and features opened (not screen contents); food logging steps started, completed or failed; onboarding progress; report ratings and your answer if we ask whether you enjoy Blueberry; device model, operating system, app version, language, region, time zone, display and accessibility settings; and session counts and lengths. For purchases, they include the plan, storefront country, currency and an estimated price.
What analytics never include: health measurements, nutrition values, food names, photos, recordings, transcripts, your name or your email.
Each install gets a random identifier that isn't linked to your name or email. It lets us count returning users, so analytics are pseudonymous. Turning analytics off stops collection from then on. It doesn't delete what was already sent.
How we use information
- To provide the features you use: logging food, looking up nutrition, and generating insights and reports.
- To keep our services secure and prevent abuse of food lookups.
- To understand how the app is used and improve it.
- To answer support requests.
- To meet legal obligations.
We don't sell or rent your information. We don't use it for advertising, share it for targeted advertising, or use it to train AI models.
Who we share information with
Only these recipients, for the purposes above:
- Apple, for AI features and subscriptions managed via the App Store.
- Service providers that run our food lookup service, food database, analytics and email. They process information on our behalf and may not use it for their own purposes.
- Authorities, when the law requires it or when needed to protect someone's safety or our legal rights.
Your choices
You don't have to provide any of this information, but some features won't work without it.
Edit or delete any food entry and its photo in the app.
Turn usage analytics on or off in Settings > Privacy.
Change Apple Health access in the Health app or iPhone Settings. Removing access stops new reads. Information Blueberry already stored stays until you delete it.
Delete Blueberry from your iPhone and Apple Watch to remove the information it stores there. Device backups may keep copies until they're replaced. Weigh-ins Blueberry saved to Apple Health stay there until you delete them in the Health app.
Deleting the app doesn't cancel a subscription. Cancel in your Apple Account settings.

Remember, your information is on your device, where you control it and we can't reach it. Requests to us cover support emails, food lookup logs, device verification codes and analytics. Analytics aren't linked to your name or email, so we may be unable to find yours. We may ask for a little information to verify a request.
